One Year - Gone Already

Well, a year has already gone by since Cicely's birth and alot has happened in that time!  So, I figure a quick re-cap of what the last 12 and a half months have held is in order!  Here we go.

October 2009: My birth!  I was born on October 18, 2009 at the North Bay General Hospital at 11:54 in the morning.  It was a beautiful, bright and crisp day out that Sunday and a glorious morning to be born on.

I weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces at birth and quickly put weight on from there.  Heck, just one week and a few days later I was already weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces!  And at my one month doctors visit I weighed 9 lbs 4 ounces!

In this first month I was taken to 2 photo shoots because I'm so darn cute and the Sears lady said I should model!  That's okay.  I'll stick to growing for now!  Did I mention that at birth I was 19 inches long?  In one month I grew 2 inches!  I'm now up to 21 inches tall!

I'm not much of a sleeper.  I don't ever sleep more than 3 or 4 hours at the most but that's okay because Mommy was prepared for that!  Daddy went back to work but it's great fun when he comes home!  He cuddles and bonds with me then even if I am sleeping at that point!

November 2009: Well, this is the month that Grandma and Grandpa Theriault leave to go back home so Mommy and Daddy will really and truly be all alone with me!  tee-hee!  Aw, it's alright.  They'll be just fine!  I really am a great baby!  Until I get hungry, that is!

As you may have already guessed, I can be a very demanding individual!  I like my food when I cry for it (or before) and not a moment longer.  I am not a patient person!

Mommy went back to school this month after taking 2 weeks off and so I either stay home with Daddy while Mommy commutes to Ottawa University or I go with her and Auntie Rossi and Grandma Theriault watch me.  They like that!  I am that fun to be around!

Well, let's see now...
I'm 22 inches tall now so I grew again!  But not too much.  And I gained some more weight.  I am now 12 pounds 7 ounces and have outgrown all of my newborn clothes!  I did that 2 weeks ago!

December 2009:  My first Christmas!  However, I will not remember a thing!  But I really like those lights on that tree in the corner.  Those are nice!  If I could I'd stare at them all day.  I can't wait until next year when I can grab a hold of them to get a closer look!

So it has happened.  I got my first cold.  That sucks.  But I am a champ so I weathered through it just fine.  Daddy says it's because I have his immune system.  What do you think?

Mommy says we have celebrated 2 events, Christmas and New years but I didn't really notice too much.  Maybe when I'm older!  I did get spoiled at Christmas time though so that was cool.  I kinda like this holiday!  However, Mommy and I were both sick for Christmas so we pretty much slept through it.  Daddy didn't mind.  We just took our time opening presents through-out the day.  We didn't rush.  Mommy and Daddy had a Christmas meal/feast (as they called it) but I thought I should stick with my milk.  Mmmm, milk.  It does a body good!

I now weight in at 14 pounds and am 24 inches long.  There's no stopping me now!

January 2010:  Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you had a great holiday season!

This month has been quite eventful for our family.  Where do I start?  Mommy is back in school after the holiday break and it's her last class of both the semester and of her university studies so we're all very excited about that!  She's graduating with a major in sociology!  Go Mommy!  But that's not for a few more months so right now it's time to buckle down and write those papers!  If I let her, that is!

Daddy had a not so good month.  He was over tired when he and I were coming down the stairs and he took a tumble.  Luckily we were both completely fine but it scared him to death.  Poor guy.  But I'm alot tougher than I look!  Even the nurse chuckled at my parents over their worry for me!  Meh, first timers!  But I was put on a concussion watch for 24 hours and just basked in the added attention!

At the end of the month I get to start taking infant cereal so I'm excited for that!  Not that I'm going to give up my milk by any means!  I'm just supplementing with the cereal so I am not always so hungry every 3 hours!  Did I mention I'm quite the little piggy!?!  However, I only weight 15 pounds so I can't be that much of an oinker, can I !?!  I'm still only 24 inches tall, well, maybe a bit taller but not too much.

February 2010: Happy St. Valentines Day everyone!  I'm spreading the love!  ~ * X O X * ~   I got roses from Daddy!  Don't I feel special!  He got Mommy roses too but I still think I was his special valentine!

This has been a busy month!  Mommy had a few papers that were due and Daddy had a week off this month so he took me to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Cybulski!  I also got to meet Aunt Julie that weekend!  It was great fun but I kind of kept Daddy awake that night so Grandma and Grandpa helped out.

I did lots of growing this past month.  I'm only 15 pound 3.7 ounces but I have outgrown all of my 3 month clothes.  Mommy packed all of those up about a week before I turned 4 months old.  I think it was a sad day for her but exciting also.  While she had to say good-bye to all of the 3 month clothes she got to unpack all of the 6 month clothes for me to wear.  It's like having gone on a shopping spree with the new rotation of clothes coming into play!

March 2010:  Mommy and Daddy got their first scheduled Baby Bonus cheque.  Shopping spree for me!!!  I got some new toys and some summer clothes for when the weather changes.  I'm told that it is not always this cold and that it will get better but we'll see!  I guess I shouldn't complain since everyone's been saying that it is unseasonably warm.

I can sit up by myself now for a full minute.  Yes, I am that talented!  I have also found my feet this month and tried avocado's.  They are good!

I'm up to 27 inches tall now by the way!  And I weigh 17 pounds and 3 ounces.  What a little chunker I am!  Mommy calls me her little sack of potatoes.  I'm not certain I like that!

Oh!  And there are white spots under my gums that the adults keep talking about.  Apparently I'm supposed to get teeth but I don't know anything about that.

April 2010:  Happy Easter!  I hope yours was a good as mine was!  I got spoiled!  Mommy took me up to see my family in Ottawa because she has classes on Fridays so that was fun!

This month I was sounding quite awful so Mommy took me to the doctors since Daddy had to work and I have laryngitis!  Who ever heard of a baby having laryngitis!?!  I guess I'll just have to give my vocal cords a bit of a rest.  Yeah, right!  That is, so, not happening!  Anyways, Doctor Vigars says that I am 28 inches tall and weigh 18 pounds 9 ounces.

I said "mama" this month.  On the 23rd to be exact!  And I can now roll over in both directions.  That one arm would also get caught and hold me captive but I figured it all out now!

Daddy brought Mommy and I to a food show in Sudbury so we had a tiny bit of a road trip!  That was fun and so were all the food booths and shows.  I just wish I had been able to try the samples too!  The day after the food show Mommy and I had playgroup at the Early Years Center.  I like it there!  It's lots of fun and there are alot of other children around to play and interact with!  Except I don't like it when the other babies try to rip my face off.  Gosh, like it's my fault I'm so beautiful!  Retract the claws ladies because you'll never win against me.  Look at my mother!  You can't beat those genetic gifts!  Daddy's pretty cute too, I guess.

Before I forget.  Congratulations Mommy on passing your class!  You're now an (unofficial) university graduate!

May 2010: Hello Spring!  The warm weather has finally arrived!

There's lots that is going on this month!  At the Early Years Center Mommy and I are taking a Baby Massage Class and I really like that.  I didn't fuss or cry at all like some of the other babies.  In fact I was so relaxed that the massages helped me get some gas out!  Nice!!!

There have been a few "firsts" this month.  First of all it was Mommy's first Mother's Day so happy mom's day to you Mommy!  I hope your day was great!  I (Grandma Theriault) sent her flowers!  They were yellow roses and white daisy's.  Also, I got my first sippy cup this month!  But I didn't drink from it quite so much, rather, I preferred to chew on it!  We have a new class at the Early Years Center since I turn 7 months old this month so it will be my first time in the 'Crawlers on the Go' class.  That's exciting!  And last, but not least, Mommy felt my first tooth coming in!  It's on my bottom gums and she is very excited.

I haven't grown too much.  I'm only at 28 and a half inches tall.  At my doctor's appointment they weighted me in at 19 pounds and 7 ounces.  Man am I heavy!!!

June 2010: Holy crap!  We had an earthquake this month!  Cool!  It was a 5.5 that was downgraded to a 5.0 and it was felt from Canada and up through the States!  That must have been quite the fault line!  Mommy and I were home alone and that was the first one she had ever felt so it was a little nerve wreaking for her, to say the least!

Now, about me!  I'm up to 21 pounds and can no longer be measured on the infant scale at Doctor Vigars' office!  I am also almost 29 inches tall but not quite there yet!  Mommy put away my 6 month clothes today and some of my 9 month sleepers as well since they don't fit me anymore.
I can also crawl now but not just backwards!  That's right, I can crawl frontwards now as well!  Sweet!
And take a guess at how much I am eating now?!?!?  3 meals per day on top of my milk feedings!  Ha!  Maybe that's why I slept the whole night thru for the first time ever this month!  Finally!

July 2010:  ~ * Happy Birthday Mommy * ~

This month has a few birthdays in it!  It is my great grandmother's birthday, my cousin Avery's birthday, my cousin Jay-Jay's birthday, and Mommy's birthday, all in one month and I'm not old enough to eat cake!  This sucks!

On Canada Day Daddy took Mommy and I downtown to watch the fireworks!  They were great and Mommy said I did really well.  There were very loud ones at the end of the show but they didn't frighten me at all.  But Mommy put her hands over my ears just because they were so loud and she didn't want them to hurt me.  I really liked the lights to.  They were very pretty and bright.  Plus, the fireworks made designs in the sky so it was extra special!  I didn't know where to look!!!
I did get upset at one point though.  There was a little boy there who was about 3 or 4 years old and he was getting in trouble from his Mommy because he wanted out of the stroller but she said 'no'.  This made him very upset and he was crying loudly.  After a couple of minutes of hearing his cries I couldn't help myself, I started to whimper!  He broke my heart!  The poor boy :(  But, other than that I enjoyed myself!

We went downtown again on one of Daddy's days off to ride the carousel and the train!  It was alot of fun for all of us but my silly parents forgot to bring the camera.  That's okay.  They'll just have to bring me back next spring so we can ride the amusements again!  Ha ha!  It's a win-win situation, really!

At the end of the month we took another road-trip to Ottawa for the Theriault Family Reunion!!!  It was alot of fun and Mommy and Daddy got some great photo's of me!  We also celebrated Jay-Jay's birthday too!  Can you guess when he was born!?!  On MOMMY'S birthday!  How special does that make him!  At least that's what Mommy says.  I'm not quite sure what she means but that's okay, I guess!

August 2010:     ~ * Happy Anniversary Mommy & Daddy * ~

Where do I begin?  Let's see.  Have I told you that Mommy's been teaching me sign language?  Yep since I was about 6 1/2 months old!  The first thing I could sign myself was 'milk'.  That was a great achievement for both of us!  I can also do 'tired' and 'food'!  On the talking side I can say bye and bye-bye now!  And I say 'hi' whereas before I'd only say it when I wanted but now I say it whenever Mommy or Daddy come into the room!

Can I just tell you that teething sucks?  My two front teeth are in and There is another coming in beside it on the top gums.  It would seem my top gums are catching up with my bottom gums finally but it's all happening at once.  Ouch!

I am able to stand on my own for bits at a time now, about three to five seconds long!  Yay me!  It won't be long now before I'm running circles around Mommy and Daddy!  Let the reign of terror begin!

I got my hair cut for the second time because it was in my eyes again!  I really hate when Mommy tries to cut my hair.  I try my darnedest to get away or make her stop but she's bigger than me so I lose in the end.  ~*SIGH*~

Post Script: I ate a spider this month!  Ha ha!  It really creeped Mommy out!  Daddy says it's good protein.  Can you tell he's the sensible one?!?  And I'm starting to bite.  That's quite enjoyable!

This is after Mommy cut my bangs.  I wiggled quite a bit!

September 2010:  Darn, fall approaches!  That means it's getting cold again.  Have I mentioned that I hate wearing socks?
I don't have anymore doctor's appointments until I turn one so there is no news there.  And Mommy measured me to see how tall I am but I'm still the same height.  I must be leveling out for a bit.  This should be nice!

So Mommy gave me this walker, it's for my birthday but she couldn't wait since I'm taking my first steps!  She thinks this will help me find my balance so we shall see!  Wish me luck though I don't think I'll need it!  I'm already able to walk backwards with the thing so I can change direction when I run into something with it so it shouldn't be long now before I build up enough strength for my little legs to hold my weight for that long and walk too!  That's alot to ask of a person who's never walked before, you know!?!

We went up to my great-grandma Shaw's house this week-end for a family dinner.  That was alot of fun and I got to show everyone how well I can throw a ball!  I also showed them how I can take a few steps but I didn't like being put on the spot like that.  That is not cool!  I wasn't terribly happy that night at my GG's.  I was going through a growth spurt or something and was eating non-stop.  I had Mommy and Daddy up until 4am.  Poor Daddy!  He had to drive the next morning.  Speaking of Daddy, have I mentioned that I can kind of say 'Daddy' now?  I say 'Yayee'!  But my parents understand what I'm saying!
On a side note, I really like alpha-ghetti's and Daddy's lasagna! And I hate clothes!  Why must I wear them ? ? ?

You see?  Darn these clothes!  But I got my pants, diaper, and 1 sock off!  Victory is mine!

October 2010:          ~ * Happy 1st Birthday To Me * ~
Wow!  Has it really been one whole year since I was born?  Where did the time go?  Meh, it's probably the fact that my brain's still developing so in the grand scheme of things, I have the memory of a goldfish!

This month was so much fun!  We had three parties to attend for my birthday and then it was Halloween!  How much fun is that!?!

The first party was on my actual birthday.  We had supper, cake, and presents.  It was just Mommy, Daddy, and I.  I liked it and I got to eat cake!  It was good!

The second party was at my grandparents (C.) house because there was alot of family members attending!  So my grandparents were nice enough to lend out their home and they were great hosts!  Thank you so very much Grandma and Grandpa!  I had alot of fun, loved the food, loved the cake (and smashing it!), and got spoiled yet again!  I wonder where Mommy is going to put everything.

The next day, because my party was on a Friday, we drove to Ottawa and attended a wedding.  I was very good but Mommy kept crying. I wonder what that was about.  It must be one of those "you'll understand when you're older" things, I guess.  I had fun and ate alot and then danced with Mommy and Daddy.  Yes, Daddy danced!  Just for us!  I love my Daddy!

The third party we had was a lunch on the Sunday before we left Ottawa to come back home.  My Aunt Rossi made us hot dogs and hamburgers and some family friends gave me more gifts!  I love this!  And Christmas is coming up!  I bet Mommy is going to start pulling her hair out!  Either that or she'll have to get more creative when organizing!

I'm such a big girl now!  In addition to 'mommy' and 'daddy', I can say 'dog' and 'puppy' and 'good boy' now!  I can also say 'belly' and 'button' but it's not so good when I try to say them together but Mommy understands!  I also managed to say 'help me' and 'baba' which means I want Mommy's boobs! And, somehow, I have picked up the words 'pie' and 'cake'!  I am so my mother's daughter! And I am walking now!  In fact, I'm a pro!  There's no holding me back now!  Which means that, yep, you guessed it!  I'm dancing now!  It doesn't matter what kind of music is playing so long as I can dance and shake my butt to it!  I have to confess that I prefer R&B!

We had the doctor's appointment and I weigh 21 pounds and am still 29 inches tall.  I guess I haven't added too much weight because I'm always running all over the place now!  Oh, I forgot to mention that I can climb the stairs now.  From the basement all the way to the top!  3 whole stories!  And I'm getting quite good at coming down them too but that scares Mommy.

I'm teething again!  We're onto teeth number 6 and 7!  The 7th one is starting to come in and it is technically November, however, I am still only 12 months old so I had to tell you all here!!!  And do you know what?  Teeth are great for biting but I try not to bite anyone now...  So far so good!

Well, that's been my first year in a nut shell!  I hope you liked it and I will try to update my blog as often as I can for your enjoyment!
